Maine antiques ready for the spring show in June
Beautiful black bench from Maine...early piece I'll have ready for the June show. Primitive red madder chest, also very early (1800's), and a pair of rush seat ladder back chairs with wonderful handpainted details reminiscent of a Dutch landscape painter. Walnut drop-front desk made in Texas by German cabinetmakers in early 1800's New Braunfels, and heavy metal window covers with fantops (3).

Smithville Antiquing jaunt
Spent the day poking around antique shops in picturesque Smithville Texas(where they filmed Hope Floats and other movies) and stopped in for the best kolache ("We gotcha kolache) at Weikels in LaGrange.

Shopping in the Texas Hill Country
HOW cold is it back in Wyoming?????Don't miss that. Love the snow but that bone-chilling sub-zero stuff gets old. I'd rather be here this winter finding some fabulous early antiques from a Taylor Texas estate. Found a walnut banquet table (actually two tables with one leaf each that folds up and hooks together to make a large table), a great dropfront desk with secret compartment, Texas heart pine bed, game table with pieces, a hall tree and a beautiful tall dresser with a mirror and marble top. Tomorrow we go pick up French pieces from a direct importer.
